"I have only good comments to make about ORR. I
have only been running about 10 months. I began
doing a walk/run type programme to get myself fit,
then I did the 5k Women's Flora Light Challenge in
September, this gave me focus for my running. I
was very hesitant about joining ORR as I was sure
I wouldn't be good enough, but glad I did as I have
had nothing but support and encouragement from everyone.
It is an excellent way of me keeping up with the
running especially in the depths of winter, and
I really wished I had done it sooner!"

"I had a really good time on my first Tuesday with
Orpington Road Runners I also brought my boyfriend
along, who is a keen runner and he really enjoyed
it as well, we are going to try and get out again
on Saturday for some more practice! I never would
of thought that I could run 10k that well, I was
really pleased with myself! We are definitely going
to give it a go again on Tuesday, everyone was really
nice and made us feel very welcome."

"I really enjoyed my first time with the club tonight
and was amazed that I managed to run for the best
part of an hour, although I think I will feel it
tomorrow! I'd also like to add that all the rest
of the runners are a really nice group of people
and I felt very welcome and well looked after."(S.P. Feb 2005)
"Just a few words to confirm what all the old-hand
members already know... what a brilliant club ORR
is. Having taken part in my first Tuesday run approximately
2 months ago and my first handicap 10k just a couple
of weeks ago; running has suddenly taken on a new
perspective. A more welcoming bunch of like-minded
individuals one couldn't wish to meet. I am looking
forward to progressing my running and meeting new
challenges through the winter, the first one being
not to trail in last in tonight's longer group run.
Having been an occasional solo runner for years,
what a difference running with others can make whatever
their relative standard."

"A year ago this Tuesday I turned up rather cautiously
to my first ORR night. I had no idea of course that
I was stumbling into a love and an addiction!! That
night was, of course, the 2005 Chevening Run and
I was immediately hooked. I had been running on
my own for about a year before this, but the club
has brought about a far greater depth of experience
and pleasure to my running and for that I thank
all the very kind and supportive people who make
ORR such a fantastic group. I ran my first
race last September - a 10k in Bedgebury Forest,
and have attempted to build gradually on my stamina
and speed ever since. As an enthusiastic beginner
I pushed a little to hard and too quickly for my
42 year old legs and as a result, tore a tendon
last January. The next 12 weeks were terrible and
it was at that point when I couldn't run that I realised
how running was so important to me. I'm now thoroughly
enjoying every Tuesday session again and for me
the countryside just makes it. Chevening 2006 -
bring it on!"(M.B. June 2006)
