After two years of very good weather for this race, we were blessed with a course that pigs would love. Two days of downpour had made this course a mud-bath. Annette, Nicola, Mike Bennett and Steve Wehrle along with myself headed to Lingfield Park racecourse in Surrey with the promise of post-race free cakes and the mere inconvenience of a 10 mile race. The course covered a number of terrains - tarmac, woodland trail, muddy trail and aphsalt on mud (!) There were some challenging hills and off-road slip-sliding but also the gift of tarmac-coated downhill stretches which soon made you forget the bad times. Alas the running club's facilities were closed so we had to contend with no changing facilities and three porta-loos. At least the cakes were there in abundance. A great local race, there surely must be more ORR there in 2009!!

2006: September 10th

Race conditions were described as "perfect" by the announcer, based in the cake tent under the shade for this Surrey event. For runners, this translated to 80 degrees heat and exposed hills for this rural course!!  A "local" event, well-marshalled; although there were hills, there were free cakes.   L-R: Nicola (Malt-loaf winner), Eric, Brian (no shirt, apologies), Annette, Steve, Steve (Jam winner) P.S.
