May 30th:

We all had a great run on Tuesday, many of you have dropped me a line to reflect on what you did/saw. Is your group represented in the Tuesday File?  If not then let me know what you got up to!  
May 28th:

With less than 30 days to go until race day, the Orpington 10k page is tidied up, including the results for the last 10 years, and the 2008 starters list.  How many spaces left for the 10k?

 

May 27th:

If you fancy something slightly alternative, then meet Brian Mead and his group for one week only convening from Petts Wood ! Starting at the car park next to the News Shopper, near to the Petts Wood Library he is setting off with one of his enjoyable summer trail runs taking in the alternative woodland around Petts Wood and Scadbury. Run time is the usual 8pm start! The pace is likely to be as usual - i.e. quite sharp but not as unforgiving as Mr Marshall's group!

For everyone else, it's a swift convene/depart at our usual lamppost at 8pm.  And - It's the Last Tuesday of the Month - so see you in the Buff pub after tonight's runs for drinks! Don't forget to bring at least £5 for Nick Kasper's Euro 2008 sweepstake, raising money for our official charity! For details, follow this link or follow the first image to the right.

Apr 29th: Another month passes, which means - L.T.O.T.M. - after tonight's run at the Buff!
 
London Marathon Wall of Fame - have we got your photo?  Not for all 45 of you!!!
From today, any user can now create a lamppost 'poll' in our Forum!  Pool the collective knowledge (!) of the 62 road runners who now have an account!!
In addition to being the first Road Runner to complete all five world marathon major titles, Betty Chan has updated details of some races on the Yellow Shirts calendar. Follow this link and enter all those FAB summer races!

Whilst you're on Flickr, review over 100 photos from the London Marathon!  We've got pictures for some, but not all of you who ran the race. Make sure you send them through so that we can add them to our wall of fame!!!

Have you been reading the Tuesday Files recently?  You know that anyone can contribute if you would like to add to the Club's chronicle!!! In addition to checking out this year's file for any evenings you may have missed, you can also review 2007, 2006 and even 2005!
 
Life's a Beachy Head then you die! Entry system is now open for this unique XC marathon, for which there are just 1000 places. As in previous years we try to coordinate a group entry with a continuous set of entry numbers.

Betty is prepared to act as Peter Clinch and apply for a group entry from ORR, but she will need entry fee and runner details upfront. As entries do sell out quickly, Betty will submit on Wednesday 9th April so anyone interested should email her with details ASAP:

Results from today's Paddock Wood 1/2M are published; also the Brands Hatch 1/2M from a couple of weeks ago is now finalised.  Please advise of any errors/omissions!!
Photos from Paddock Wood are now on Flickr - and NEW you can also look at tagged photos of individuals from the whole Flickr archive (under development as there are over 1,500 photos currently uploaded!!!

Mar 24th: Happy Easter!  I've always dreamt of a white Easter, just like the ones we used to know.

Check out our new HEROS page!  Also, bring your drinks money and some change of clothes perhaps (!) for the Last Tuesday of the Month this Tuesday in the Buff, after our evening's runs!
Mar 19th: Having read the Pulse! Easter edition, more results are uploaded: Thanet 20, Eastbourne 1/2M, and Liverpool 1/2M, Silverstone 1/2M. We have been a busy lot!!!

Results from the Finchley 20, Fleet 1/2M and Sevenoaks 10k now updated on the YSC race pages. Well done to Danielle Hurley for being the first lady home at Sevenoaks!!

Mar 13th: A new POLL on the Forum requires your urgent attention regarding this Spring's HEROS runs... members with an account can access this here.  Road runners can get a free account on the Forum as long as they pass the rigorous entry tests!!!

Mar 12th: Results from the fifth and final Charity 10k race are published! Thanks to John for running the 2007-08 series. Now all we have to do is organise our own 10k!

Dec 17th: We're all I'm sure thinking about 2008 membership subscriptions and allocating budgets accordingly!! The subscription rates for 2008 are £10 annual subscription fee plus a one-off joining fee of £5 for first claim members and for second claim members - £5 only. This is as you know because of the unique affiliation to UK Athletics that we're doing this year.

Send a cheque of £15 for first claim members or £5 for second claim members, to Paula, or this year can make a direct payment to our bank - details are on membership page:
Dec 16th: Latest News!  Female runners are getting smaller, according to recent population studies. As a result we've introduced a new mini-size 32" singlet.

Also this week...

Tuesday - depart 8pm from the lamppost for a quick tour of Orpington's festive lights, before reconvening in the Buff (pub!) for the London Marathon Draw. At least SEVEN PLACES up for grabs, and a chance for the London Marathon Team for 2008 to get together and start panicking!!!

Sunday - Our Mince Pie Run, from the first High Elms Car Park, a little later than normal, fancy dress is strongly recommended, as is mince pies, mulled wine, and a collection of family friends and pets for carols and tomfoolery in the car-park after the run. More details to follow in PULSE and on Tuesday night.

3. Finally, there's been a LOT of activity on the Forum this week.

Nearly 50 Road Runners out of a club population of 220 have an account and are able to chat openly about future running events and in fact any other subject under the sun/moon. The site is free for paid-up members and is secure. This week in particular there is a very topical item that you can express your views on. Not got an ID yet?  Visit the site, create your account, log-in, and join in the tomfoolery!  Check here for details.

Nov 25th: Don't forget, this Tuesday (27th) is the LTOTM (Last Tuesday of the Month)!!!

So... bring some money for the Buff afterwards because Nigel Webb certainly won't be buying the drinks all night!!!

This will include details of the local charity that we support every year (for 2007, this is the Kent Association for the Blind), and also of any other fundraising events that Road Runners are involved with!

Nov 9th: All change at the helm!  Following last night's AGM a number of new faces will be adding their own unique distinctiveness to the Club's operations!

Michael Bennett picks up responsibility for the Pulse! newsletter.
